Thwart Those Hackers and Cyber Attacks – Susan Poeton

If you are a manufacturer who is not worried about cybersecurity you should be. According to a report¹ on the state of cybersecurity in small and medium sized businesses the percentage of small businesses that have experienced a cyber attack was up from 55 percent in 2016 to 61 percent in 2017 and the average number of annual security breaches has increased by 27.4%.Hackers can now reach industrial systems in ways that are very challenging to detect before it’s too late. While technology, such as the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) advances, so do the risks. Manufacturers must do everything they can to mitigate their exposure.  I would like to share some very relevant information from a recent article by David Hatchell, Vice President for Critical Infrastructure at Forcepoint that discusses the trends that manufacturers need to lookout for this year.
